How it works

Lovable Cloud is the backend a project gets when it is switched on: managed Postgres, auth, storage, and serverless compute, with Lovable AI on top of it. The pieces below are the whole surface, each one its own catalog record.

   Data lives in managed Postgres

   Schemas are generated from plain-language descriptions and rows are editable in a UI, so persisting data does not require writing SQL first.

   The project picks its hosting region

   Americas, Europe, or Asia Pacific, chosen by a workspace admin and defaulting to the user's location. This is the control that answers EU data-residency requirements.

   Files go to buckets, public or private

   Storage takes uploads up to 2 GB per file, with per-bucket visibility and bucket and folder deletion.

   Custom logic runs as edge functions

   APIs, webhooks, payment processing, and scheduled tasks run server-side and scale automatically, which is also where anything holding a secret belongs.

   Sign-in is part of the backend, not a bolt-on

   Email and phone sign-in ships with the Cloud project, alongside Google and Apple providers.

   AI features call frontier models without API keys

   Lovable AI is the second half of the surface. Apps call leading text and image models server-side from Cloud functions with no provider account to manage, on a usage-based price with a free monthly tier.

   Model choice widens over time

   The available set includes reasoning-grade models and embedding models for semantic search, priced in tiers so a cheap model can serve the cheap calls.

   AI spend and latency are visible per project

   An activity dashboard reports cost, token usage, and the status of individual requests, so an expensive feature is identifiable rather than inferred from the bill.

Lovable Cloud is Supabase-compatible managed infrastructure, not a separate database engine. Cloud itself is on all plans; the database, storage, and edge function usage is metered on paid plans, and Lovable AI is usage-based with a free monthly allowance.
